Expectations
What to Expect
A day on the water with Drumspot Charters is all about fishing hard, having fun, and soaking up the beauty of Louisiana’s marsh. We cover over 800 square miles of prime fishing grounds between Slidell, Hopedale, and Delacroix — chasing redfish, speckled trout, bass, and whatever else bites.
Your trip starts early with a rundown of the day’s plan and a sunrise marsh run. Then it’s lines out and rods bent as we work the flats and bays, weather, and fish patterns to put you on the bite. Whether you’re a first-timer or seasoned angler, Captain John tailors each trip to your skill level and pace.
All the gear, tackle, and bait are provided — just bring your food, drinks, sunscreen, and a small cooler for the ride home. Captain John will clean and bag your catch back at the dock so you can enjoy a fresh Louisiana meal that evening.
Expect a laid-back, no-rush day in the marsh: good fishing, great company, and stories that’ll stick with you long after the tide rolls out.
What NOT to Expect
At Drumspot Charters, we keep things simple, real, and focused on fishing. Here’s what you won’t find onboard:
• No crowds or party atmosphere — It’s just you and your angler partner and the marsh. We’re here to fish, not host a booze cruise meat haul.
• No fancy catering or full kitchen — Bring your own food and drinks. We’ve got an ice chest onboard to keep them cold.
• No air-conditioning or luxury yacht — You’ll be on a clean, well-kept fishing boat built for shallow marsh waters, not lounging decks.
• No guarantee of limits — We’ll work hard to find the fish, but this isn’t a stocked pond. Some days they bite, some days they make us work for it.
• No pressure or pretension — You don’t need to be an expert angler. Just bring a good attitude and a sense of adventure.
