A day on the water with Drumspot Fishing Charters is about fishing hard, having fun, and enjoying the beauty of Southeast Louisiana’s marsh. We cover more than 1300 square miles of prime fishing grounds between Slidell, Delacroix, and Hopedale, chasing redfish, speckled trout, bass, and whatever else bites.
Your trip starts early with a rundown of the day’s plan and a sunrise run through the marsh. Then it’s lines out and rods bent as we work the flats and bays, adapting to the weather, water, and fish patterns to put you on the bite.
Whether you're a first-time angler or a seasoned fisherman, Captain John Barnes tailors each trip to your skill level and pace. All gear, tackle, and bait are provided. Just bring your food, drinks, sunscreen, and a small cooler for the ride home.
At the end of the trip, Captain John will clean and bag your catch at the dock, so you can enjoy a fresh Louisiana meal that evening.

What NOT to Expect
At Drumspot Fishing Charters, we keep things simple, honest, and focused on what matters most: fishing hard, enjoying the marsh, and making the day feel easy. Here’s what you won’t find onboard :
• No crowds or party atmosphere — It’s just you, your fishing partner, and the quiet of the Southeast Louisiana marsh. We’re here to chase fish, not run a booze cruise or stack coolers for a meat haul.
• No fancy catering or full kitchen — Bring the snacks, drinks, and meals you prefer. We provide a clean ice chest onboard to keep everything cold and within reach throughout the trip.
• No air-conditioning or luxury yacht — You’ll be fishing from a well-kept, purpose-built Blazer Bay 675 Ultimate Bay designed for performance, stealth, and shallow water access, not lounging decks.
• No guarantee of limits — We fish wild waters. Some days they’re chewing, other days they make us work — that’s part of the experience.
• No pressure or pretension — Just show up ready to have fun and enjoy the adventure.
