Drumspot Charters – Charter Rules & Guest Expectations

Our goal is simple: keep you safe, keep things running smoothly, and give you an unforgettable day on the water.

Please review the following rules and expectations before your trip.

  1. Arrival & Departure
  • Please arrive no later than 30 minutes before departure to load gear and complete any remaining administrative work.
  • Charters leave at the scheduled time. Late arrivals may result in a shortened charter.
  1. Safety First
  • Follow all instructions given by the Captain at all times.
  • Life jackets are provided and must be worn when underway or required.
  • Keep hands and feet inside the boat while underway.
  • No boarding or stepping off the vessel without the Captain’s approval.
  • Unsafe or intoxicated behavior may result in the trip ending early with no refund.
  1. What to Bring

We recommend bringing:

  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Sunscreen, hats, sunglasses
  • Snacks or drinks (no glass bottles)
  • Any personal medications (inhalers, EpiPens, motion sickness meds)

Note: Space is limited. One cooler is provided onboard. You may bring a personal cooler to leave in your vehicle to transport fish back home.

  1. Alcohol & Tobacco
  • Alcohol consumption is not allowed for safety and liability reasons. We hope you understand.
  • Illegal drugs are strictly prohibited.
  • Smoking and/or vaping is permitted only with the Captain’s approval and away from fuel sources.
  • If the Captain feels a guest is impaired or under the influence, the trip will automatically be cancelled and credited as a whole day charter.
  1. Fishing Gear & Equipment
  • All rods, tackle, and bait are provided unless you prefer to bring your own. If you bring your own, please notify the Captain.
  • Please handle equipment responsibly—lost or damaged equipment due to negligence will incur a repair/replacement fee.
  • The Captain will assist with casting, baiting, and safely handling fish as needed.
  1. Catch, Photo, & Release (CPR)
  • We practice responsible fish handling to protect Louisiana’s fisheries.
  • If keeping fish, all state size and possession creel limits must and will be followed.
  • All kept fish will be cleaned and bagged for you.
  • Quick photos are encouraged; prolonged handling of fish is not.
  1. Weather & Conditions
  • The Captain monitors the weather closely.
  • Trips may be delayed, relocated, or canceled for safety reasons.
  • Only the Captain makes final weather decisions.
  • Weather-related cancellations by the Captain follow our standard cancellation policy.
  1. Respect for the Marsh
  • Please do not throw trash, lines, or cigarette butts into the water. “If it doesn’t grow, it doesn’t go.”
  • The marsh ecosystem is a living environment—we will treat it with care.
  1. Conduct on Board

To ensure a positive experience for everyone:

  • Be mindful of hooks and casting around others.
  • Keep gear organized to avoid tripping hazards.
  • Children must be supervised at all times.
  • Listen for instructions when fish are hooked or when the boat is underway.
  1. Tipping

Tipping is never required but is always appreciated. A standard gratuity for charter captains is 15–20% for good service.

  1. Liability & Waiver

By scheduling a charter trip, all guests automatically agree to the Liability Waiver & Release. If guests fail to agree after the charter trip is scheduled and the deposit is received, this will result in forfeiture of the trip without refund.

  1. Have Fun

We’re here to make your time on the water enjoyable, safe, and memorable. Relax, fish hard, ask questions, and soak in the Louisiana marsh.
